Well, here it is: LeeSoRa's second album. Frankly, let me tell you, I am somewhat dissapointed. I mean, it seems nobody seem to find the right (?) way or music to represent her voice. I've noticed this happened to a lot of great Korea female vocalists. That is, although they have great vocal quality and musical sense, those songs they record cannot seem to show the true capabilities of their talent.

For example, I can tell you, any other person could have replaced most, if not all, numbers on this album and you wouldn't miss a bit (with some exageration). Man, I miss her MuDae WiE.

Another complaint: I can understand Ms. Lee has great taste for variety of musical genre and probably wanted to experiment with them. However, I can't help thinking that this album is another "JongHap SeonMul SeTeu."

By the way, yes, this is still the same Ms. Lee we love. Don't get scared by the fifth number. :)

I have to retract some of the stuff I said above. She has the talent to adapt to any musical genre. This third album clearly states where she is heading. With the help from JoGyuChan, she is successfully starting her musical exploration.

Unlike the previous album, this one has themes: balads and rock, articulately divided. Her "sorrows" (the first five tracks) don't get much of my attention although some of them will undoubtably hit the charts. Her "rage" (the latter five tracks) consumes me. I think she can start her own rock band.

After listening to her successful transformation, I am beginning to think that she will eventually come back to Jazz & Blues when her journey comes to a full circle.

[Update] Actually, I think she is more like a theatrical vocalist. She would be great for rock musicals and story-telling. I think that's why this album works.

This is a collection of live performances from a KBS live musical TV program, Lee Sora Eui PeuRoPoJeu ("Lee Sora's Propose"), which began broadcasting on October 19th, 1996. This 2-CD set contains more than 30 tracks, most of which are very nice. Some sings their own tunes, some sings others'. Very nice to hear different "intepretations."

One interesting story with this set is that it was pulled out of market in Korea. Why? It turns out that the musicians appeared on it are minimally, if not at all, paid. It seems the producer of the album, who happens to be holding the same job on the show, went ahead with it without telling Ms. Sora Lee about the royalty issue. When she found about it, she got really upset and threaten the producer that she would quit the show if he corrected the problem. What I don't understand is why they recalled the CDs instead of properly compensating the musicians involved. Beats me. It's such a good set of music.

Bottom line: So, if you are lucky to get a hold of it (I believe you can in the U.S.), get it.

This is the first of the two-CD set from the KBS's music program, LeeSoRa Eui PeuRoPoJeu, hosted by you know who.

I heard this album was pulled off the market because someone tried to get profit off of the musicians involved, and LeeSoRa threaten to leave the show if the situation wasn't corrected.
