KimHyeonCheol is a one of the best singer-songwriter of 90s. He started his musical carrier from late 80s. As keyboard player he sessioned with the artists of the label 'DongAGiHoik'. As music director he released his first solo album < ChunCheonGaNeun GiCha;Train to ChunCheon > and became a young and new star. This sophomore album is one of the best album in GaYo history. I can say KimHyeonCheol's style is ballad with jazzy approach. He boomed the jazzy style session in GaYo scene. And he does best of all.
Latter albums are too sensitive & smooth to persist his freshness, but early 2 albums are still brilliant. Most session played with JoDongIk & his friends in DongAGiHoik. Later they became the best session of GaYo scene. His genius is not only on composing but also on lyrics. The lyrics of [Play:KimHyeonCheol232DoSsiYeoReum.mp3 32DoSsi YeoReum; Summer, 32 degree] or [Play:KimHyeonCheol2GeuReonDaeRo.mp3 GeuReonDaeRo; Anyway] are very simple but will move your mind(if you can understand the Korean...-.-). After his 4th album(1995) he couldn't make sensation with his album. But this new album is cool. Because he compiled this album all duet songs with other artists. AsOne, ParkHyoSin, RollerCoaster, ParkWanGyu, OkJuHyeon of FinKL, BulldogMansion, YunSang, BomYeoReumGaEulGyeoUl and so on.
Anyway the quality and the direction of this album is not so bad. He will marry soon, perhaps the power of love made him as a nice ballad singer once more.
His songs are different with other singers. After his debut many ballad singers became to use Jazzy tunes, but his own view of the common world and ordinary life are still unique. And his lyrics uses the inversion of first mood. Sensitive like Haruki무라카미하루키.
I hope his diet :), 10 years before he was sharp and sensitive youth, but he's too fat and greezy.
