2 # Crom's Techno Works (1998) as 'Crom' [ | ]

CD:2070479

He surprised a lot of gayo audience by announcing this CD. A worn-out rocker-wannabe trying to get a new breath into himself by adopting "techno" genre.

Although I am not so much of a techno fan, this double CD album can be called a techno works if you can call the recent Madonna's single that. The first CD contains 9 tracks of techno-fied his earlier singles, and the second one contains 6 new tracks. And I think the first track from the first CD is most close to what I would call a techno.

I can only say this. I always high hopes for him, but I inevitably get let down by his lack of real talent every time. I think he has a very good insight into what sounds good and what will become popular. However, his realization skill is a lot to be desired. I think he should just become a producer. --HongCho, 1998-07-08

3 # Monocrom (1999) [ | ]

CD:2084466

Well, since I have been let down numerous times by Shin, Hae Chul, I really didn't expect much from this album. Actually, it took quite a bit of internal debates to buy it. But, it turns out, this ain't too shabby.

Musically, this isn't really a "techno," I think. It does have "techno" elements, but it doesn't have the hallucinatory and hypnotizing looping effect most pure "techno" music has. Actually, one or two tracks have more of a techno feel. However, most of the tracks have a hard rock/techno feel. It's much much better than his previous feeble attempt at techno. Although you can notice the roughness of his "techno" performance and sometimes sounds anachronic, I thought the album as a whole was a good work.

Bottom line: You should at least try it if you like louder music.

Well, I was constantly disappointed by ShinHaeCheol's work until now. I think this is a good work, fusing his background in rock and electronic music. I don't know how much the other half of the group, ChrisTsangarides, had effect over the whole musical color.

JudasPriest plagiarize the song Machine Messiah on this album, making the song Metal Messiah on the album Demolition(2001). You can compare the songs. Perhaps ChrisTsangarides is the source, he participated on the album Demolition.
