★★★★☆ Modern Rock, Cynical, GaYo

Panic is duo of allround player LeeJeok and rapper KimJinPyo. LeeJeok revolt against social or musical custom. He sings suppression of school, distorted view of society and hypersensitivity of modern people. On this second album they found their style. I recommand [UFO] and [[[BulRe]]; Bug]. They released their 3rd LP, < Nae MaEumSokEui BaDa; The Sea within >. But they didn't progressed. --DisTort, 1999

This is a collaboration album by LeeJeok of Panic and KimDongRyul of JeonRamHoi. Although the album doesn't seem to have a consistent theme (despite its title), the music itself is very well performed and recorded.

Especially, the second track, Rollercoaster (in Carnival Land), with its very well arranged horn section (by Jerry Hays and three others), stands out. I really dig horns... :) And the strings... Very 70-ish sound... --HongCho, 1997-11-01

Okay, I admit this is the first Panic album I've bought. I don't know why the first and the second album didn't appeal to me.

Panic are LeeJeok and KimJinPyo (well, you all know this already). Jeok did a project album with KimDongYul, called Carnival and JinPyo released his solo rap album between the last album and this one.

My impression of this "group" is that Jeok is doing most of the creative work. He writes music and words, does most of the orchestrations, and plays instruments. No wonder JinPyo needed a solo act.

I like the album. Most of the songs do not have "love" themes (thank god!). Harmonies are interesting. Solid sessions. It's actually amazing that they are popular! (Okay, I am being a bit over-sarcastic.) Another thing I like about their style of the album is "story-telling." They give you the feeling of musicals (e.g., Bbul) or Sergeant Pepper or Queen.

Bottom line: This one goes into my CD changer.

P.S. My cousin did a back vocal for Nae NalGeun SeoRap SokEui BaDa! --HongCho, 1998-08-06
