제네바 선언

1948년 제네바에서 세계의사회에서 채택된 선언문
1948년, 제2회 세계의사회 총회에서 정한 의료윤리에 관한 규정
히포크라테스 선서의 윤리적 정신을 현대화·공식화한 것
이후 5차례 개정됨(1968년, 1984년, 1994년, 2005년, 2006년)

이제 의업에 종사할 허락을 받으매

나의 생애를 인류봉사에 바칠 것을 엄숙히 서약하노라.

나의 은사에 대하여 존경과 감사를 드리겠노라.

나의 양심과 품위를 가지고 의술을 베풀겠노라.

나는 환자의 건강과 생명을 첫째로 생각하겠노라.

나는 환자가 나에게 알려준 모든 것에 대하여 비밀을 지키겠노라.

나는 의업의 고귀한 전통과 명예를 유지하겠노라.

나는 동업자를 형제처럼 여기겠노라.

나는 인종, 종교, 국적, 정당관계, 또는 사회적 지위 여하를 초월하여 오직 환자에 대한 나의 의무를 지키겠노라.

나는 인간의 생명을 수태된 때로부터 지상의 것으로 존중히 여기겠노라.

비록 위협을 당할지라도 나의 지식을 인도에 어긋나게 쓰지 않겠노라.

이상의 서약을 나의 자유 의사로 나의 명예를 받들어 하노라.

At the time of being admitted as a member of the medical profession:

I solemnly pledge to consecrate my life to the service of humanity;

I will give to my teachers the respect and gratitude that is their due;

I will practice my profession with conscience and dignity;

The health of my patient will be my first consideration;

I will respect the secrets that are confided in me, even after the patient has died;

I will maintain by all the means in my power, the honour and the noble traditions of the medical profession;

My colleagues will be my sisters and brothers;

I will not permit considerations of age, disease or disability, creed, ethnic origin, gender, nationality, political affiliation, race, sexual orientation, social standing or any other factor to intervene between my duty and my patient;

I will maintain the utmost respect for human life;

I will not use my medical knowledge to violate human rights and civil liberties, even under threat;

I make these promises solemnly, freely and upon my honour.
