Yoo Seung Jun is one of my favorite singers I've ever listened to. Despite his gangly and non-American look, his voice is very unique and pleasant. When one listens to his music, they would think that it's all rap. But in case you don't quickly skip to the next track or turn off the stereo, you'll find that his songs are filled with melodic tunes sung by himself, often backed up with voices (both male and female) and/or a small rap verse. Ever since my Korean friend from High School introduced me to Korean Pop Music, or K-Pop, I was hooked. After listening to numerous groups such as S.E.S., H.O.T., Jinusean, Turbo, and Fin.K.L., I found that Korean Pop Music is simply filled with good melody. What set Yoo Seung Jun apart from the others is that he is someone I could relate to. He is an Asian who loved the performing arts. He is also one of the few male solo artists to make it big in Korea.

Yoo Seung Jun dreamed about being a singer since the age of 6. While growing up in Buena Park, one of his biggest influences was Michael Jackson. He would dance to Michael's songs and one of his relatives actually bought him a Michael Jackson costume. After breaking ground in Korea, Yoo Seung Jun actually met his boyhood idol. (click for picture). His father didn't think that singing and dancing would get him anywhere, so Yoo Seung Jun stopped pursuing his dream of becoming a singer. Ten years later, he expressed to his father the dream that he was keeping inside of him. His father was supportive. When he was 20, he sent a demo tape to Korea and six months later, he gets a call from a manager. Yoo Seung Jun flew over to Korean and the rest is history.

His first hits, "Gawi" and "Sarang Hae Noona" off of his first album "Westside", caught the attention of many both in Korea and in the U.S.

In the summer of 1998, he released his 2nd album "V2: For Sale" along with the hit single "Na Na Na." The video, which contained over 500 of Yoo Seung Jun's fans as extras was released.

In March of 1999, he released his 3rd album called "Now or Never" which contains the hit song, "Yuhl Jung", in which he performed in English while Chinese superstar singer Yuki Hsu sang in Chinese. "Now or Never" also contained "Waiting For You" in which he sang in Korean, and yet another Chinese superstar, Coco Lee, sang in English. Coco Lee recently sang "Before I Fall In Love" on the "Runaway Bride" Soundtrack.

Yoo Seung Jun's fourth and latest album, "Over and Over", contains the #2 most popular hit on Angelcd.com , "Love Song".

My name is Angelo D. Alonte. I am a Virgo. This page was made for Dr. Grasmick's MU 109 class at Cal Poly, Pomona. I love music of ALL types. To me, whatever sounds good IS good. I have been playing the piano for 14 years and the guitar for about 10. I also played a little saxophone in 6th grade. Some musicians that have influenced me are Babyface, Brian McKnight, and Elton John...all piano players. Right now I don't have time to practice piano a lot, but when I do find the time, it is a natural high. When I really have time, I want to explore writing my own material, which will probably be ballads. Until then, listening to other musicians' music is just fine.
