1 Biography or Not[ | ]

1.1 HongCho, 1997[ | ]

I present the one and only, the "Little Prince" of KoreanPop world. I should've put him on the page earlier, but I didn't like his previous album all that much. And since I didn't want to encode his really old (the first two albums), but exellent nontheless, I was waiting for his next work.

So, here is his page. Apologies to his devoted fans.

2 His Ballad(1997) [ | ]

CD:2060677 ★★★★ GaYo, Ballad

2.1 DisTort, 1999[ | ]

LeeSeungHwan is representative ballad singer in Korea. He made so many ballad hits and lead the ballad boom of early 90s. It's not matching with the name 'King of Ballad' that his stage manner is very dramatic and powerful. So he made his front name 'MuJeok(No Enemy)'. He has also the nick name 'Little Prince'.

He didn't satisfy on the commercial success. He made his own label DreamFactory. The label's color is popular, funky, easy and smooth sound. RollerCoaster is representative label of DreamFactory.

In GaYo scene ballad was always bull. In the scene LeeSeungHwan was bull of the bulls. I don't expect about his music. But his popularity and the acts of DreamFactory is interesting still.

This is the best of his first 4 albums. Megahit songs archive. Recoommend for womens fallen in love...^^

3.1 HongCho, 1997[ | ]

This is his fifth studio recording. He said on an interview, with this album, he was trying get out from the "Little Prince" image. That's why this album has a theme, "From a Child to an Adult," or at least that's what he said. If you've asked me, I would've said it's not that much different. That is, although this album was made with some help from JiNu, it has his basic quality. So, all those who like his previous works, should have no problem getting used to this one.

4 The War in Life (1999) [ | ]

CD:2083652 (DreamFactory)

4.1 DisTort, 1999-04-04[ | ]

What can I say? He's the man. He just thinks that nothing is enough for his album. This 15-track album (no, it's not a double CD album) has a very nice design (besides the music, that is). The wonderful thing about this album is that the tracks themselves are pretty good. Of course, his last album was also nicely done, but I think I like this one better.

Orchestration-wise, he tried quite a few more instruments. I mean, his music is definitely western, but he tried using Korean and Chinese traditional instruments for the "feel" or "mood" that surprisingly worked well.

And talk about the session musicians... I think he hired (you know that he runs his own production company, DreamFactory, so he can afford that, I guess) some pretty good arrangers and musicians in L.A., Nashville, and San Francisco area. He is definitely one of the few who realized the power of a good horn and string section early on. Actually, most of the hip tracks were arranged by a guy named SteveDady. Does anyone know what his background is? Also, JiNu did a couple of pretty good retro arrangements.

The last track is titled & the future. And surprise, it's a techno. :) I guess it's not a total crap. I don't know if he really wants to pursue this path, though. Oh, and this album has two sub-sections titled, JeongSang (normal) and BiJeongSang (abnormal) and frankly, I don't know what the criteria were.

Bottom line: Get it.
