Just in case you don't know who KimDeokSu is, he is the leading member of the most famous SaMulNolI (a form of Korean traditional folk music with four percussion instruments) group in Korea. He plays JangGo and this album is to celebrate the 40 years he's been playing the instrument.

I guess people call this kind of music, "cross-over." Except for one track, no other percussion instruments were used besides SaMul (four Korean percussion instruments). I guess it's one way to incorporate Korean traditional musical elements (rhythmic and their associated acoustic characteristics) into western music. However, I can't help but feel that, without inclusion of melodic and harmonic elements, it is still just a western music. Don't misunderstand me. I liked the songs in the CD as they are (actually I think the live performance of the tracks would be wonderful). I was just hoping for something more. You can compare this with Won, Il's first album. Both are trying to reach the same goal, I think.
