1 Biography or Not[ | ]
I first heard their name some time ago. However, for some reason, their name sounded those "idol" groups that were infesting the gayo scene.
I first saw them playing in "Club m.net" on m.net. They weren't definitely "idol"s. They weren't even a studio band. They were actually playing pretty good music. I fell in love. --HongCho, 1998-01-11

When they came with the hit song [Play:JaURim_HeyHeyHey.mp3 Hey Hey Hey], most people thought they would be just a dance pop band. But when they released their debut album, all the people accepted they are another good rock band. They were also indie band but they picked up to major before release album. Their lyrics are sometimes aggressive the others comic or soft. Female vocal KimYunA is trademark of this band, and her composing or playing is good as voice. This is one type of music that I would like to listen to more in gayo. JaURim is a four part band with KimYunA (vocal & keyboards), LeeSeonGyu (guitars & vocal), KimJinMan (bass guitars), and GuTaeHun (drums & percussions).
They write all their numbers and they play mighty fine. Music and lyrics have their distinctive characters. Especially, Ms. Kim's voice is, I should say, attractive. I wouldn't say it was beautiful or clear. But it sticks out her name tag out in my face.
And I got to listen to them perform as one of the opening bands for the SanUlRim's YesterMorrow concert (a little later about the concert). They are definitely not a studio band. I was very excited. Most of their music is very fun to jump up and down in the club. If you are in Korea, please do experience them in a very crowded small space. I would do you a good. :)
This is their debut album. It really shows what kind of music new artists are trying to make in the rock club scene in Korea. I guess the world trend is going toward this type of rock-based music and Korea is no exception. I am actually very excited by this album and want to see more of this rock band (not a solo) trend gain even larger momentum.
There is hardly any song that doesn't make you want to jump up and down. I especially liked the third and fifth tracks.

Another CD that I was waiting for. :) Well, they are still KimYunA (vocals and piano), LeeSeonGyu (guitars and vocals), KimJinMan (bass), and GuTaeHun (drums).
What do I think? Well, I think I might have had too high hopes for them. It's a very well-made album. And their music is solid as usual. Ms. Kim's vocal is as strong and mesmerizing as ever. But, none of the tracks are talking to me. Maybe, I need to listen to the 14 tracks more carefully, but at least, it's my first impression. I am not trying to defend for them, but lately, I've lost the enthusiasm for gayo and have been inundated with listening to 20 CDs...
Anyway, I think their music has less "edgy-ness" in this album, I'd say. Interesting sounds, but I don't know if this can continue their previous success of the debut album.
Bottom line: I'd give a marginal recommendation, for now. I would probably put it into my CD changer and see if anything changes...
Their second album. For some reason, I think this album is different from their debut album. Feels softer and more theatric than the previous one. My initial impression wasn't so favorable, but I think I am getting over it. :)
