1 Biography or not[ | ]
I don't know where I heard about this trio. It was fairly a long time ago, but I remembered they had something good going. Of course I didn't buy their first album and they never caught up the popularity.
I can't define their musical style. Sometimes they sound like YeoHaengSketch, sometimes DongMulWon... I believe this is so since all three members participate on a equal bases and each song reflects the characters of each composer.
IlGiYeBo were KangHyeonMin, ParkYeongYeol and JeongGuRyeon.
JeongGuRyeon went solo since their third album and ParkYeongYeol is now known as NaDeul. --HongCho, (01/13/1998)

Their debut album. They were initially known as AChim, but they found out that some other people were already using it, so they changed to this lovely (to me, at least) name.
They have a very good harmony. I feel really sad to see that now they are only two now.

They still have one of the best arrangement teams, especially vocal. Although their momentum from the immensely successful third album has somewhat diminished, they still rock. Not only their music is superb, but their lyrics do tell very good stories.
I personally liked the eleventh track, SeuSeuRo GyungHumHalSoo ItGe, but all the tracks have comparable qualities, and I think all of you will love this one if you've enjoyed their last one.
6 Urban Dream (1997) as 'JeongGuRyeon' [ | ]

JeongGuRyeon was a member of IlGiYeBo up to their second album. But, very suddenly, with their third album, Mr. Jeong wasn't part of the team. I was a bit surprised because I thought their harmony was great.
For whatever reason he decided to leave the group, he didn't quit singing. With this album, his first solo, he is trying to continue his singing career with the help of talented song-writers.
I am a little disappointed that he didn't write most of the songs. I like his singing; he is one of the few people that has a very attractive singing voice. But I don't think that alone can make a good music. I was hoping to see more what he's got to say. I was expecting him to share his own stories with me. For that reason, I can only think this album as okay at best.

Not much has changed. They are KangHyeonMin and NaDeul. And they are still doing a very light melodic pops with a very good vocal harmony.
One interesting note for the first track, Beautiful Girl. It sounds a lot like a "propose" song for both. :) Both mention "Beautiful Kim" and "Beautiful Lee" in their "thank you" section as well. Very sweet. :)
It's not that I hate their musical style. It's just that I have a very short focus span. :) Listening to similar style for a while... well, it's hard to get excited. I am sure there are a lot of people who would enjoy all their latest work.
Bottom line: The same ole solid work by IlGiYeBo.
This Group's melody sense is great. I like this album. This album have a delicacy melancoly and humoreous swing. -Antonio "Invictus" Park (http://livro.wo.to)
