절대값, 절댓값, 절대값의 성질

• 수 직선에서 원점으로부터의 거리
• 양수이면 그대로, 음수이면 부호를 바꿈

2 정의

실수 a에 대해

[math]\displaystyle{ a\ge0 }[/math]일 때, [math]\displaystyle{ |a|=a }[/math]

[math]\displaystyle{ a\lt 0 }[/math]일 때, [math]\displaystyle{ |a|=-a }[/math]

a, b가 실수일 때

[math]\displaystyle{ |a| = \sqrt{a^2} }[/math]

[math]\displaystyle{ |a|\ge0 }[/math]

[math]\displaystyle{ |-a|=|a| }[/math]

[math]\displaystyle{ |a|^2=a^2 }[/math]

[math]\displaystyle{ |ab|=|a||b| }[/math]

[math]\displaystyle{ |\frac{a}{b}|=\frac{|a|}{|b|} }[/math] (단, [math]\displaystyle{ b\ne0 }[/math])
